Features of Different Saucepan Set Materials

The selection of saucepan sets should not only depend on how it looks on your cooking hobs; it should also consider the material that will be the best suit for cooking. This is a brief discussion on different materials generally used to manufacture saucepans and their respective features. Each of them has a set of advantages and disadvantages.

How the characteristics of materials influence the use of saucepan sets?
Stainless steel: It is durable and sturdy but not that good in conducting heat. So, a good conducting material is added at the bottom surface to cook with ease. This heats up the pan quickly. The added material is not visible since it is encapsulated. Apart from heating the pan, it also protects steel from corrosion during dishwasher cleaning.

Hard Anodised: It is aluminum with a special electro-chemical process at the outer layer. The interior surface is ordinary aluminum. This is harder than stainless steel. But all of them are not dishwasher friendly. If they have a special coating on the exterior part, you can then clean it in the dishwasher.

Aluminum : It is an excellent conductor of heat but the main advantage of this material is softness. They will not last long like steel. Pure aluminum pan is quite uncommon as they cannot electricity. So, they will not work on induction hobs. The internal surface of these is non-stick. The outer layer is enamel coated. So, you will get them in various colour shades to fit into the existing kitchen theme.
